NYWatch is an independent watchdog and advocacy publication dedicated to exposing government corruption, demanding transparency, and holding New York’s public institutions accountable to the people they serve.
New York is home to one of the largest, most powerful, and most complex state and local governments in the country—yet meaningful oversight is often fragmented, opaque, or absent. NYWatch exists to close that gap. We investigate how public money is spent, how decisions are made behind closed doors, and where government actions diverge from the law, ethical standards, or the public interest.
Our reporting focuses on public records, official data, audits, legislation, and firsthand documentation. We rely heavily on Freedom of Information Law (FOIL) requests, statutory analysis, and verifiable sources to ensure our work is fact-based, transparent, and defensible. When misconduct, waste, or abuse is uncovered, we document it clearly and make it accessible to the public.
NYWatch is not aligned with any political party, candidate, or special interest. Our sole allegiance is to accountability, lawful governance, and the principle that public office is a public trust. Transparency is not optional in a democracy—it is foundational.
